What’s wrong with me
I feel as flat as the flat Earth theory
My mindscape is like a wall
Chalk hearts melting in the sun
When life was but a blue station wagon
And beautiful gray clouds and breeze and tingling guts and leafless trees swaying in the near tempest breeze
A phantom by a streetlight wears a long coat the color of blood and there’s a wide brim hat atop his head and he walks crooked with a cane down into the land of pink carpet and pools where clown cloaked tunnels are dark green and hazy
Then there’s red lights dispersed in a nightly mist by the old grocery store on the corner whilst lightning in the sky sizzles across the landscape in brief illumination and the peace of doves
A lone pink house sits in a vast desert where someone couldn’t escape the daft punkish life of a bent out of shape America where the streets turn to blood and the schools turn to blood and where the peacemakers are diluted by the ignorant babble of the insane and hateful, and onto the heartbreaking cruelty that severs the souls merely wanting to live… Why am I the one taking the crazy pills?
There are nine moons in the sky tonight
As I stand on the lonely street in the circle of a yellowish light before the church glowing purple, broken hands in prayer glow like fireflies, a door creaks open and a low moan enters the world, the confessional spreads its wings and takes me in
There are too many things I’ve done wrong in this life, too many mistakes, too many miscues, too many foul decisions and I wonder if I’ll ever get to the long leaf-covered trail beside the old, weathered fence where I can just walk to the end of the Earth and jump off into space
To find peace and jubilee at last floating among the casket stars of all universal life
