We floated along toward the green bean horizon today. The air was warm and salty and had that smell of summer. That smell of deep green and earth and heat, the shimmering of the clouds point toward end-of-the-day ice cream from a little favorite spot on the main drag, the sky slipping into its costume of dusk, the cone bright white on top and it feels good against the mouth. Traffic moves by, people talk, children mess around and laugh. Now time to go to the dead mall and walk amongst the ghosts of the shopping halls, and then soon it will be night, and the stars pop, and the car is quiet as it heads home.
